As the New Year is here, will we or won’t we set a New Year’s Resolution?
Each year, I think we all have good intentions of making a New Year’s Resolution.
Setting goals and working toward them may be reaching them.
In reality, only a few keep a resolution, and only a few commit.
Stay Focused
It is sometimes hard to stay focused and engaged in a New Year’s Resolution.
We usually make it with ourselves; maybe we share with others, and perhaps we do not.
Staying focused is challenging when you have no one to answer to except yourself.
It is easy to forget about your goals and say tomorrow we will do better, tomorrow
we will start again, tomorrow comes and goes, and nothing happens.
When and if you choose a New Year’s resolution that is right for you, set a reachable one.
If you share your goals with others, a friend or family member could help you.
If you do not want to set a New Year’s resolution, perhaps tell yourself you will try.
Let’s say you are going to try and see where it goes.
- Try to move more.
- Try to read a book.
- Try to take a few more walks.
- Try a new hobby.
- Try volunteering.
- Try going outside more.
- Try making a new friend.
Each day is a new beginning; make it a great one.
Put Your Cell Phone Down
Everyone is holding a cell phone; try putting yours down.
- Try to have a face-to-face conversation with others
- Try to learn something new
- Try to do something you have never done before
- Try to keep an open mind.
- Try making a new friend.
If you can not think of how to start a conversation with someone you would like to get to know
Ask a question.
Asking a question sometimes helps start a conversation.
We all need to think and talk like we have no fear.
Want to try a new sport, hobby, or craft, just try it.
You might find something of interest.
A new talent you never thought you had.
Look around, think about it, talk about it, and try it.
Our goal for this year is to share our thoughts with you.
We hope you find
- Something to think about,
- Something to talk about
- and Try.
Happy New Year from our family to yours; 2023 will be great.
Let’s make this the year to try something new.
