Most of us have heard the phrase Laughter is the Best Medicine.
What do you think?
The other day the unexpected happened. I was dropping off our clothes at the cleaners, and a gentleman picked his up. We started talking inside and continued our conversation outside of the cleaners.
Richard was his name, and he said he was going to his high school reunion. I think he said his 70th. How wonderful is that?
What I found interesting was his ability to find humor in life. About five minutes into our conversation, he had me laughing so hard that I had tears in my eyes.
No matter what has happened in his life, laughter has been his best medicine.
Remember to Laugh.
He told one joke after another; they kept coming and coming. The more he said, the more I wanted to hear.
I wished I could remember a few of the many jokes he told that day.
Life is short, depending on how you want to navigate it, complaining or laughing.
Laughter might not solve our problems, but it might make us look at them another way.
When was the last time you laughed so hard you had tears in your eyes?
Have you ever met that person that made your day?
That day I met that person that brightened my day. Richard is eighty-something years young, full of life, doing what he wants, driving, reading, dating, and answering emails.
Maybe he knew how much brighter my day became; perhaps he did not. Lesson learned you never know what someone is going through; a smile might make their day.
Have you ever tried to bring sunshine to someone’s day?
Tell a Joke today
What do you think should we challenge ourselves to remember one monthly joke?
Then tell someone: a stranger, a neighbor, a friend, or a family member. It just might brighten their day.
After my conversation with Richard, he got me thinking, is laughter the best medicine?
At that moment a few jokes, and a good conversation, I was not thinking about a thing except smiling and laughing.
Laughter might be the best medicine, so go out, tell a joke, have a few laughs, and enjoy your day.
Look around; you never know who needs a joke today. Always tell it with a smile and laughter.
Go out and bring laughter and joy to someone today.
