Searching?
For most of us, we can say yes, we are searching.
We have all heard people say they have nothing to do; they are so bored. I have to tell you, we have found ourselves saying that learning to be retired has been challenging.
While you were working, raising your family, a hobby might not have been a priority. The time commitment is too long, the learning curve too time-consuming, and thinking about a hobby never was on your mind.
Now that you are retired, you might find the time to learn and explore a hobby fascinating.
No matter what, you need to visualize it to accomplish it.
Maybe a painter never thought he could paint, then one day, he told himself over and over
again and again that he could paint.
We can all accomplish and learn something new when we set our minds to it
and tell ourselves we can
- We can accomplish it
- We can learn it
- We can do it.
Do you think that is what great athletes say to themselves?
So what is a Hobby
According to Meriam-webster.com,
A Hobby is
Pursuit outside one’s regular occupation engaged in, especially for relaxation.
Why should you have a hobby?
- To occupy your time
- To please you
- To show others and talk about
- To share your knowledge
- To relax.
Why would you want a hobby?
- To give you something to do
- To have something you enjoy
- To have something to talk about
- To calm your mind
- To challenge yourself to keep learning
- To make friends
Hobbies bring people together while making friends, sharing ideas, and learning, so why not try one?
For some, it is hard – we never had a hobby or an interest in anything other than work.
We never joined a class to learn something or thought about asking others if they had a hobby.
Just think, if you had a hobby or two you might not be searching for, you might be enjoying your hobby.
So why not explore the possibilities of a hobby- if you feel like you do not have the time right now – start making a list of what you might like to try someday.
If you start thinking and dreaming about what’s next in your life, you might just find the Perfect hobby. A hobby that fits your likes and dislikes works around your schedule and everything.
Who knows, maybe it will be writing a blog, becoming a photographer, a roadside vendor, keep searching.
For some of us, finding a hobby is just the start; for others, they perfected their craft and turned it into a side hustle selling online, at craft shows, flea markets, with friends and family.
So you never know where or how far your hobby will take you.
